In August of this year, I was reading Ezekiel 28 and was asking the Holy Spirit about Lucifer.  It fascinated me that every precious stone was his (outward) covering, he came up from the midst of the stones of fire, and his name meant “shining one”.  I realized that when he fell, he lost the light and all he had left was his outward adornment.  I posted an article on my blog page about how he then associated his outward adornment to value and beauty, and this “value” system translated to man after the fall.

Several weeks ago, while at work I was chasing thoughts of a strategic vision I’ve had for years.  I presented my director with a few ideas.  He liked what I had to say and suggested I read the book by Simon Sinek called “Start with Why”.  Well, I did purchase the book but I’m also lazy, so also watched a 20 minute “cliff notes” version on YouTube.  In a short summary, Mr. Sinek noted a consistency in highly successful people and/or companies and then codified their “formula”.  Drawing a target on a white board, in the center target he wrote “why”, in the middle ring he wrote “how”, and in the outward ring he wrote “what”.  He then noted that most companies start from the outside IN: What I do; How I do it; Why I do it.  The successful individuals and companies, however, always started from the inside OUT : This is why I(we) do it, this is how I do it, this is what I do. The idea being that more people will buy your “product” because of your passion and drive behind it than they will for any other reason.

What do these two things have in common, you might ask? Everything!  It was the Lord’s way of preparing my heart to receive a recent teaching on Light and Skin (Head (or soul) connected to God; Head (or soul) connected to eyes (or senses)); and how we were designed to live from the inside OUT, but as a result of the fall began living from the outside IN (our soul received everything now from our senses rather than from the LIGHT of God).  I posted an article on this one, too.

It is no coincidence that on the drive to church the Tuesday night prior to this lesson, I was praying and expressing a desire to God that people would see His light shining in me in such a tangible way that, though they may not fully understand what they were seeing, they just “had to have some of that”!  Later that evening during the study, as we listened to our teacher put forth the idea of how, prior to the fall, Adam and Eve did not recognize their nakedness because they were clothed in light, I sensed the Holy Spirit smiling over me and my little prayer.  I also sensed the Lord’s sadness when He went in search for them, no longer seeing that light shine.

A seismic shift takes place within us when we are born again, redeeming our spirits and once again setting our souls up for a transformation to see and receive from the inside out rather than from our 5 senses – from the outside in.  This spiritual and soul-sight fusion enables us to more fully grasp who we are and whose we are.  This in turn empowers us to catch the vision of our purpose in Kingdom building and warring against the enemy where it matters, in our homes, our churches, our work places, communities, cities, and our nation. 

This shed a whole new light onto the beauty of holiness, becoming more and more like Him in our transformation process.  And it also enabled me even further to realize why those without the Spirit are not able to comprehend God’s ways (Isaiah 55:8-9); BUT WE have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).
