Passages like Isaiah 40:31 and Psalm 46:10 invoke a sense of calm. Wait on the Lord… be still and know… Yet we have this yearning desire to hasten the day, to hurry Jesus up so that He will come and rescue us from ‘all of this’. Why is He waiting so long? What on earth could be keeping Him?

TWO THINGS…

First, He waited for me – and all of those like me (2 Peter 3:9). Those whom He knows were and are not yet born into this earth who will live and make the choice to love and follow Him. Those He knows belong to Him. How then can I, in my haste, possibly deny them the same choice? WE are important to Him.

Second, He waits until all His enemies have been made His footstool, thereby bringing justice for all (Hebrews 10:13). Whether principalities and powers in the spirit or physical realm, all who deny Him will once and for all be justly and righteously dealt with. He hears all of our cries and has promised to deal justly with the unjust. HE is important to us.
