When I was perhaps about five years old, there was a fairly good sized hole in the flower garden that ran along our front porch. I remember pointing it out to my brother, Mark, who was 6 1/2 years older than me.
Mark said something like “yeah, that’s where the Easter bunny lives”. “Whaaat? Really”, I asked? Knowing that Easter was coming in a few short weeks, I began to get super excited. Picking up on this, Mark took every opportunity to emphasize the tale on a regular basis, encouraging me to keep an eye out for when the Easter bunny would come to hide all the eggs. OOOH the anticipation! Could I catch the bunny hiding the eggs and find even more this year than last year?
Easter may have come and gone many times over and already this year as well, but the resurrection of Jesus remains with us – and here’s the fun part – He plays the game of hide and seek as well, and has hidden so many delightful treasures for us to find throughout the ages! Things tucked in between lines of scripture. Things we only begin to discover as we seek His face more diligently and tune in to hear His voice. Things reserved for those who love Him. Things only the Holy Spirit reveals – such as…
- Did you know that there is no direct reference to the word “Trinity” as it relates to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? The concept is all throughout scripture, but the revelation of the word “Trinity” was just waiting to be discovered.
- Have you ever considered that both good AND evil have the same root within the Tree of Knowledge? That’s a great illustration of why we can never be good enough to satisfy God’s perfect requirement. Because they share the same root, you can never eliminate all of evil from the same tree that good comes from. That is what makes the Tree of Life (aka JESUS) so important!
- Where would we be in history today if Martin Luther had not discovered that the just shall live by faith? That direct revelation from God exploded in Luther’s soul so violently that we still feel the tremors from it today!
- And just today I was reading a superb article by Don White on his blog site (Walking the Path) titled “Why Greek“. This post highlights some wonderful nuances between the Hebrew and Greek languages and how they both combine together to paint such a lovely picture of the work of Christ and His amazing love for all of us!
Let’s make this the year we press in even more to seek His face, hear His voice, and discover all of His wonderful treasures!
